Thanksgiving has come and gone, our bellies have been filled to the brim with delicious home cooked meals. Our hearts have been warmed by the moments spent with family and friends and yet we are not done! Next on the agenda is Christmas time! I for one LOVE Christmas time, the cold weather, snow, people making plans to head back home again to celebrate with their loved ones and can't forget the gifts! Of course as we get older, we realize that the gifts are not important and the amount you spent on them doesn't matter either. But, if you still want to get amazing gifts that will NOT crush your wallet, I have a list for you. Personally curated by me, there are gifts for all beautiful ladies. Makeup, books, clothes, jewelry, all from my favorite bands and then some!
THE MAKEUP BEAUTY
When it comes to makeup, I am no beauty guru but you can NEVER go wrong with makeup for Christmas. Especially when it is inexpensive and great quality.
This palette is one of my favorites because it comes with 18 different varieties of eyeshadows, bronzer, two blushes and a luminizer! It also brings mini samples of their mascara, eye shadow primer and liquid lipstick.A palette with colors for all seasons that only costs $58.00 and has an actual value of $378.00 is a huge steal. Plus you can't go wrong with Too Faced Cosmetics.
If you don't know much about makeup and want to get your makeup beauty girlfriend/ best friend the latest product for the changing trends, I'd say get Laura Mercier's translucent loose setting powder. One of the most obvious trends that has hit the makeup world is "Baking." No you are not reading that wrong, baking like baking a cake, is where you set your high lighter with a translucent powder and leave the excess powder on to soak up all of your oils. It'll keep your makeup on longer and will cause less creasing under your eyes. So it'll look something like this,
I've been looking for a loose powder myself to bake with and had so much difficulty. You know thanks to genetics, yay not, I was basically born with dark circles and being a night owl doesn't help that fact either, so when I found this product I fell in love. My makeup now looks polished and well put and I look like I slept through the night like a baby! Trust me when I say your makeup beauty will thank you for getting her this loose powder to help her look alive and conquer the world. Plus it's only $37 dollars and can possibly last 3 months, so you'll be getting your moneys worth.
The last item for your makeup beauty is the Anastasia Contour Cream kit. I have this and it's like photoshop only without the program and it's real life haha. For only $40 dollars you are getting a top notch quality cream kit that will make your makeup beauty look like a makeup guru. And because Winter is coming soon, our faces tend to lose moisture and powder contour kits will make our skin look flakey and flat. A cream kit is perfect for the colder temperatures because it glides on smoothly and keeps your face moisturized. I have tried many cream contour kits and only a few have matched up to this kit but are more on the expensive side and lets face it, no one wants to spend $70 dollars on makeup, unless you roll like that, if you do, let's be friends!
It also comes in a darker shade palette so don't worry my beautiful friends, this palette is for everyone and if you think the colors might be too dark or too light, I can assure you, they are not. It'll look fab on all skin types.
The Poetry/Book reading Babe
If your poetry babe is anything like me and is searching Instagram's #poetry hashtag, just give them this book! I have fell in love with R.M Drake and his words. They are captivatingly beautiful and painful all at the same time and every time I read one of his poems I feel like he is talking about my life. He must be following me around or something haha! I have linked his Amazon Account so if you are feeling generous to your poetry/book reading babe, you can see what other books of amazingness he wrote! You can't go wrong with a book that only costs $18.00!
I cannot lie I have not yet had the chance to read this book, but I have heard wonderful things about it. I guess I've been too afraid to read it because of what it entails and my anxiety disorder but I think this is a necessary read. The author Sylvia Plath committed suicide in 1963 leaving her at the beautiful age of 31 forever. I'll leave you with a piece from her poem "Mad Girl's Love Song."
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my eyes and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside of my head)
Another book that I believe has helped me throughout my anxiety journey. The Power of Now teaches us to live in the moment and allow the past to be the past and the future to come when it does, this book has taught me to live, love and feel with intent. For so long and even at times, I have been stuck in the past wishing to change the moments that have happened. I've been stuck on thinking of what could be and how the future is so unknown, that it has left me with so much anxiety. Even writing my thoughts about how I feel about time, gives me anxiety but I promise you, even if you do not suffer from a mental illness like myself, this book will open your eyes and teach you to cherish the now. I believe EVERYONE should have this book before they hit adulthood, just to teach them to keep moving forward and you should help out your poetry/book reading babe by getting this book for a Christmas gift!
THE JEWELRY/BOHO GAL
I have worked with Vanessa for quite some time and each piece she gives me is a beautifully crafted work of art. This necklace totally gives off a boho babe vibe but could also be worn with a grunge/rock vibe shown below. It ships worldwide, is handmade with love and attention to detail and only costs $29.99. Plus you'll be helping a small business out, which I find quite fulfilling!
Wanderlust Pocket Watch Necklace
When I received this from Vanessa, I felt like I was touching an antique, full of stories to tell. The craftsmanship that she puts into each piece is truly remarkable to see; the quality never hinders and when I wear one of her unique pieces of jewelry, people think I've spent a lot of money on it, but the actual price for this lovely piece is only $24.99. Gift this to your boho babe and she'll love you forever.
I do not own this ring, but I know I NEED IT! I've always believed in symbols and their meaning and I have even thought of getting the Hamsa as my next tattoo. It brings protection, luck and happiness. But for now I can do with this cute little ring. The colors are so vibrant and I love how the Hamsa stands out from all of that in an intricate black outline.
This little ring, rings up to only $12.99! Maybe I should hint at a few of my friends to get me this ring haha. Please if you get the chance, check out Vanessa's Etsy shop, Livin' Freely. It is beautiful curated with handmade pieces that will make your boho babe feel like she's a kid in a candy store. Oh and make sure to let Vanessa know, I sent you her way. Spread the love!
THE FOODIE CHICK
I wanted to do something that was simple and yummy and cost a little less than $10. If you're like me, I want my gifts to have significant meaning and what better way to give a gift with love then a homemade D.I.Y Cookies and Cream Brittle.
2 bags of Nestle White Chocolate (which I unfortunately had to use but do not agree with them and taking water away from the people of California)
1 bag of Oreos
First you want to make sure you have everything, your white chocolate chips, Oreos, a pan to put it in, a mixing bowl, a microwave, and aluminum foil. First you want to melt all of the white chocolate in the microwave for about 30/40 secs. Be careful not to burn it. While you are waiting for the white chocolate to melt, take the Oreo Cookies and crush them, you can leave some big pieces here and there but make sure to have some cookie crumbs you can use to coat the top of your brittle. Now you want to mix your crushed Oreos with your melted white chocolate so it can look something like the image below.
Take your aluminim foil and put it on top of your pan and pour the white chocolate and cookie mixture into it. Spread it around so that it can get flat and then put in the fridge for 20/30mins. After that it is time to break the brittle into pieces and eat.
THE SCENTY LADY
What girl does not like candles! Okay, I know a few but trust me when I say Yankee Candle's are THE best candles I have ever smelled. I know everyone talks about Bath & Body Works like it's magic but honestly I feel their smells are too strong and they smell all the same. Don't kill me now but I'm more of the subtle scent candle lover and I have a few candles in mind that I think anyone would love, especially because they are festive!
Each of the scents are subtle and smell like Christmas/Holidays to me! I won't lie, the candles are a bit expensive but they always have sales! Like today, buy 2 get 2 free, basically like 50% off and it won't kill the bank!
I hope my Christmas gift guide has helped you figure out beautiful gifts filled with love, beauty and happiness. Remember, it's not about how much you spend but how you spend it. Think of the person and figure out what represents who they are, a gift that is custom fit to their liking is always more meaningful. Goodluck and until then,
Xoxo, Jacklyn <3
